Umoe BioEnergy has been a development stage company for the last years. The company, then a project, was initiated in 2003 when the main shareholder Viviane Carolo aquired a small 300,000 tonnes crushing capacity distilllery in the Paranapanema region. In 2006 a strategic alliance were formed with Norwegian energy entrepreneurs to secure  funding and expansion.
